Terrorizing Terrorists

News of the raids in tripoli Libya and Baraawe Somalia is yet another distraction by this administration. It immediately struck me as odd for numerous reasons. First off aren’t these types of missions usually dealt with a measure of secrecy? Especially considering the raid in Somalia was far from a success and could hypothetically serve to bolster the clan based terrorist group Al Shabab. The same people responsible for the Westgate mall attack in Kenya. http://www.nctc.gov/site/groups/al_shabaab.html

If the raid in Somolia was in response to the Westgate mall attack, could the raid in Libya to capture Al Libi have anything to do with Benghazi? <a href="http://http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2447299/Al-Libi-captured-Delta-Force-Libya-Al-Qaeda-terrorist-taken-away-masked-men.html“> http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2447299/Al-Libi-captured-Delta-Force-Libya-Al-Qaeda-terrorist-taken-away-masked-men.html If so why not openly admit it? Surely the president would be the first to jump up and down to claim justice has been served in perhaps some way. Especially after the lame excuse of the attack being the direct result of a youtube video when in fact it was Al Qaeda all along. http://www.thedailybeast.com/articles/2013/10/07/benghazi-s-al-qaeda-connection.html If justice is to be served then how? After his interrogations aboard a navy ship, where will they detain him? Surely not the US to be brought up on domestic charges? Why not Guantanamo? Or did Obama finaly get around to closing it?

I personally have no problems actively pursuing credible threats wherever that may lead us. However I do worry that sometimes the end may not justify the means. In what manner should we peruse these types of threats? Is it better to have boots on the ground conducting these raids? Or Is it better to send in a drone and take out the bad guy and his entire family. That’s of course assuming the bad guy is bad at all. http://www.theguardian.com/world/2013/aug/12/yemen-drone-strikes-us-policy

Lastly how did Al Libi, a man wanted for plotting embassy Attacks in 1998 but was attending school and enjoying his asylum in Manchester the next year, ever become FBI’s most wanted? What ever happened to Ayman al-Zawahiri, Al Qaeda’s number two and Osama Bin Laden’s right hand man?
